The Global Earth Repair Foundation is pleased to host a presentation by Mazin Qumsiyeh of the Palestine Institute of Biodiversity and Sustainability. Mazin is an international advocate for the rights of Palestinians and the rights of nature. Their institute teaches on many subjects including biodiversity surveys, sustainable agriculture, permaculture, aquaponics, water harvesting and social justice. Professor Mazin Qumsiyeh teaches and does research at Bethlehem and Birzeit Universities. He is founder (with his wife Jessie) and volunteer director of the Palestine Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability (PIBS) at Bethlehem University which includes a botanical garden and a natural history museum  (http://palestinenature.org). Qumsiyeh published over 150 scientific papers and several books on topics ranging from cultural heritage to human rights to biodiversity conservation to cancer. His many published books include “Bats of Egypt”, “Mammals of the Holy Land”, “Sharing the Land of Canaan: Human rights and the Israeli/Palestinian Struggle” and “Popular Resistance in Palestine: A History of Hope and Empowerment”. He also published hundreds of articles and letters to the editor. He served on the board of a number of Palestinian youth and service organizations (see also http://qumsiyeh.org) and oversees many projects related to sustainability of human and natural communities. A 2020 laureate of the Paul K. Feyerabend Foundation award (which acknowledges and encourages remarkable accomplishments that represent a true source of inspiration), Qumsiyeh was also the 2019 recipient of the Takreem award that honors Arab accomplishments.
