GERC2025

Postponing the Global Earth Repair Convergence

Dear Earth Repair friends,

We regret to inform you that we have had to postpone the May 9-13, 2025 Global Earth Repair Convergence due to events beyond our control. Our venue, the Fort Worden Conference Center, is currently shut down due to bankruptcy of Fort Worden Hospitality who handles booking of the Conference Center. They announced this on January 14. The Conference Center will most likely not be operational in May. Steps are being taken to get it back in operation, but at this time no one knows exactly when.

This is just a temporary setback and we will use the extra time to keep building towards the Convergence.  Arranging more presenters, building staff, fundraising and reaching more people. We will let you know the new date as soon as possible.

Here is our new plan of action:

* We will reschedule the in-person event once the Fort Worden Conference Center is operational again. We are hoping for September 18-22, 2025. We have reserved that date at the nearby Jefferson County Fairgrounds with their buildings, camping and kitchens to augment the Fort Worden facilities.

* We will soon launch our new, GERC dedicated website: We will post the link here when it becomes active

*  We will keep our Earth Repair film series in Port Townsend going. Last Saturday of every month till April. https://globalearthrepairfoundation.org/earth-film-series/

* We are scheduling a number of 2025 in-person events leading up to the Global Earth Repair, to which you are invited.

~~ Global Earth Repair Pre-Convergence Gathering. Didi Pershouse of the Land and Leadership Initiative has offered to host a gathering on May 10-14–on the shores of Lake Morey in Vermont (where she and Walter Jehne gave their annual gathering for many years.) It will be a sort of “pre-convergence” workshop and think tank, using living systems frameworks to plan our work in watersheds and bioregions toward Global Earth Repair.

If you are interested in attending, please fill out this very brief form.  If you have questions, or are interested in donating to help cover costs, please contact Didi at [email protected]

~~ Inland Northwest Permaculture Earth Repair Convergence, Spokane, Washington, August 10-11 (dates to be confirmed).

~~ There are likely to be others. Would you like to host something in your location?

* We will continue to highlight Earth Repair news, events and resources on our websites.  www.globalearthrepairfoundation.org

* Fundraising is a work in progress. Can you help or have ideas? April Bartlett is our funding coordinator. Contact her at:  [email protected]

* We have lots of other projects in mind including: Zoom meetings, classes and webinars, adding to the Global Earth Repair Hall of Fame, and an online crowdfunder. UEN is still committed to developing a BioRegional Learning Center at Fort Worden going forward.

If you would like to join the Convergence team please fill out our coordinator/volunteer form. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSceTrIJ-f2_nIqeEPKG4_VpBibe_vYOvJuTJvjcrtA1JErP0w/viewform
