Marcy and Nicholas Riggle – Kin Domain Academy

Marcy and Nicholas Riggle joined Vedrica Forest Gardens Community in Orofino, Idaho in 2011 to co-create a community of people living in harmony and balance with each other and nature. Members of Vedrica are inspired by the Ringing Cedars of Russia book series. Marcy & Nicholas began parenting there in 2012 when their first son was born. In the intervening years they have been learning from nature, birthing their own children, building their own natural home, reforesting, carbon sequestering, managing the forest, constructing ponds, developing springs, making natural herbal medicines, dealing with forest fire damage, etc.

“Upon reading the Ringing Cedars of Russia Series they felt an impulse to create a Space of Love on this Earth for their children and all of their Kin. They both grew up living the average city lifestyle going with the hustle and bustle, until the feeling was born within that there must be more to life than the rat race. They immersed completely into an entirely new way of life, moving from Southern California to a land with true seasons. They plan to raise assist their children as close to nature as possible and allow them to develop the skills to live a happy harmonious life. Letting their continuum be their guide and nature be their friend. They hope through living a responsible lifestyle that they can reawaken their own natural abilities and find balance within. They are eager to learn and explore; both the land and the nature of mind.”

“We are all in need of tribe, connection, spreading of folk knowledge and gatherings to bring together the youth of the new civilization… We would like to document children’s philosophies and experiences with nature and gather the knowledge that they have acquired through their connections to the Earth, Diverse Energies, and Cosmos. We picture a child led discussion where we don’t know where they will take us. ”

Workshop(s)

Workshop 1: Discussion group for development the non-profit, Kin Domain Academy, and co-creation of its future

“Kin Domain Academy is an organization working to support families in their journey towards true sustainability. We plan to hold a piece of land for the development of Kin’s Domains or Spaces of Love that can be preserved as working models of land based sustainable joyful living. We also aim to secure this land for our future generations leaving a growing, blooming and evolving mark of beauty upon the Earth. We envision many families living in a village setting sharing common spaces with individual family homesteads on 3-5+ acre parcels creating a community hub of organic, local, biodiverse produce and products available for the larger outlying community. Kin Domain is also dedicated to spreading knowledge of sustainable living practices and alternative small scale farming techniques. We plan to have a nature based school with child led programs and enriching lessons on permaculture and gardening. We also plan to hold workshops from the land sharing and learning new and old techniques of living in relationship with the land. Programs offered would include topics such as: permaculture gardening and landscaping, orchards and food forest creation, biochar and microremediation, reforestation and regenerative design, water management and conservation, sustainable beekeeping, natural building, woodworking, health and nutrition, plant identification, herbal medicine and nature as our healer as well as yoga and meditation retreats. Kin Domain Academy has been conducting hands on in the field research for the past 5 years and is now working towards applying for government and private grants to support our further research and outreach programs. We are always looking for more diversity within our organization and more volunteers…”

“We also want to connect with families already creating their spaces of love and spread the knowledge that everyone has gained. We feel as Anastasia does that Kins domains are the future and the answer to healing our Mother Earth as well as ourselves. Once the land is held and nurtured with loving hands then deep healing occurs… We have 275 acres here in Idaho in need of repair- for this we need capable people to design and carry out the work… We need our kindred spirits to make a large scale change. We hope to get connected with others willing to take part in the permaculture design of Vedrica’s land.”

Workshop 2: Planting a Healing Garden of Intention

As we have 3 kids of our own we would really like to connect to the kids culture at the event as well and hold a few kids workshops. One on planting a healing garden of intention, where we will teach Anastasia’s technique for imparting your energy and information into the seed allowing the plant to heal you. We feel this very valuable knowledge for anyone but it would be a very fun workshop with the kids.

Workshop 3: Healing Ourselves – Natural Healing Basics

We would cover herbal plant medicine basics (asking plant permission, identification and easy preparations), energy medicine and meridian exercises. Keeping this new civilization’s energies humming and healthy.
