Jeff Orlowski

Exposure Labs – Boulder, Colorado USA

Jeff Orlowski-Yang is a Filmmaker and served as director, producer, and cinematographer of the Sundance Award-Winning films, Chasing Ice and Chasing Coral. He is a two-time Emmy-Award winning filmmaker, and founder of the award-winning production company Exposure Labs. His latest film, The Social Dilemma, premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival.

His film, Chasing Coral, looks at the effects of ocean warming and coral bleaching on these vulnerable ecosystems

Huffington Post called the documentary “one of the most beautiful and important films ever made” and Roger Ebert wrote: “At a time when warnings of global warming were being dismissed by broadcast blabbermouths as “junk science,” the science here is based on actual observation of the results as they happen. When opponents of the theory of evolution say (incorrectly) that no one has ever seen evolution happening, scientists are seeing climate change happening right now — and with alarming speed. Here is a film for skeptics who say “we don’t have enough information.”

Orlowski-Yang founded Exposure Labs to maximize the impact of film, creating a company dedicated to both quality storytelling and powerful campaigns.

In 2017, Orlowski-Yang was the recipient of the Champions of the Earth award, the United Nation’s top honor for spreading powerful environmental messages to a global audience. In 2016 he was named the inaugural Sundance Discovery Impact Fellow for environmental filmmaking.

The rare footage “Chasing Ice” is recognized as the largest glacier calving event ever captures on film by the Guinness Book of World Records. Adam LeWinter and Director Jeff Orlowski filmed this event at the Ilulissat Glacier in Western Greenland.

Exposure Labs said the event lasted for 75 minutes. During that time, glacier retreated a full mile across a calving face three miles wide. The height of the ice is about 3,000 feet, with 300-400 feet above water and the rest below water.

“The question is not, ‘Is climate change happening?’ Nor is the question, ‘Is climate change man-made?’ Rather, we need to realize itʼs already here, and start asking, ‘What are we going to do about it?’
