Laura Bee – Sacred Beekeeping
Laura Bee Ferguson is the Founding Director of the College of the Melissae–an online and on-the-ground sacred beekeeping school and activism platform based in Southern Oregon, USA. In her work, Laura blends her heart’s desire for activism with her soul’s sensitivity to the world and she speaks internationally on sacred beekeeping and how we can and must save the bee to save ourselves. She is an educator, teacher, international speaker and activist and draws on her dual degree in Anthropology and Religious Studies (BA Macalester College) as well as 15 years as a beekeeper. She blends together cutting-edge natural beekeeping methodology and practices with cross-cultural, spiritual and mythological perspectives.
For fun Laura Bee works on her novel, paints, wildcrafts, creates herbal medicines and spends considerable time with her chickens on her ¼ acre farm.
The College of the Melissae; Center for Sacred Beekeeping has collaboratively developed the Six-Fold Sacred Path of Bee studies. (Science, Sacred, History, Mystery, Art-Medicine and Activism) Influenced by concepts of Gaia consciousness, Symbiotic Evolution and the de-colonization of science and history, Laura Bee and her Hive have discovered innate and inspirational wisdoms much needed in today’s fractured world. In an effort to bring ethical animal studies to apiculture they have recovered consciousness expanding hidden animism, herstory and mysticism which provide a more holistic understanding of ourselves as part of Nature.
From simple ancient meditative mantra, to working with consent with the bees, to discovery of sacred bee goddesses and imagery, to sacred geometry, to spiritual poetry…..we have been provided a honeyed thread throughout time and truly pan-culturally to uncover and recover the best in our human:animal relations. The bee speaks to us with such gracious generosity…. we invite you to be inspired, find connection…
“Many people fall completely in love with the bees
which is understandable
since the whole language of the species is one of perfume, love and collaboration.
But there is more than the language,
there is also …the song.”

Workshop 1: Bee History & Consciousness
Honeybees have been a close human ally for tens of thousands of years. Revered throughout history and on nearly every continent, the role of pollinators has figured heavily in spiritual understanding and the development of culture.
With wit and insight Laura Bee explores the role of bee species and how it has informed our understanding of the world with a rich visual presentation of symbols and myths. With an eye toward science she will also share tips and concepts to deepen our relationship with nature and the bee’s generous and profound contributions for humanity’s collective consciousness and a return to Right Relations with Gaia.
