Magic Microbial Mudballs
Peter Jackson was one of our presenters at the Global Earth Repair Conference in May. Peter has been practicing various bioaugmentative and remineralization practices for building healthy soil for the last ten years in Anacortes, WA, primarily with regards to maintaining the vitality of fruit trees and cannabis. For the last five years the focus has been natural farming practices from Japan and S. Korea, involving use of Effective Microorganisms and Indigenous Microorganisms.
Here’s a great article Peter sent us about bioremediation of waterways with inoculated mudballs, “Magic microbial cocktail to revive dead water bodies in Bangladesh” by Afra Anjum. I had not heard of this. I am sure there would be lots of adaptations for this technology in many countries and situations. I remember the stench of the the latrine waterways of Kathmandu’s streams and rivers.
“Under the guidance of the EM Research Organization in Japan, bioremediation of waterways with mudballs inoculated with beneficial microorganisms has taken place in many parts of Asia. It really was one of the most profound things I’ve learned about outside of the potentials of mycoremediation. The making of the mudballs will be one of the things I will teach at the Global Earth Repair Conference that can be done with Bokashi bran.”
