New Ecosystem Restoration Camp/Community in the Methow Valley on the Eastern Slope of the North Cascades, WA

Would you like to be part of an Ecosystem Restoration Community?

Dear World,

This is a call for collaborators for a new Ecosystem Restoration Camp/Community in the Methow Valley on Eastern Slope of the North Cascades, WA.

Get in on the ground floor. Be part of the founding group.  Do you want to devote part of your life to Earth healing work? Living in community? Working for the planetary good?

The first Ecosystem Restoration Camp (ERC), Camp Altiplano in Spain, was founded in 2017 by my friend John D. Liu. In just 8 years, the movement has spread across the world and there is now a network of more than 70 camps and communities.  I have dreamed of starting an Ecosystem Restoration Camp for years and things are aligning now to bring it into reality.  The world needs as many ERCs as possible.  Every locality could use one or more.  The more models the better!

What is coming together…

Skalitude Pollinator Sanctuary:
* 160-acre land base in the Methow Valley.  Mountain valley in-holding, with forests, grasslands, steppe, and fields.  Currently 7 dwellings, off-grid with solar electricity, spring and well water and other infrastructure. Well established as a reverently tended place of gathering, learning, connection.
* Two income-generating businesses including farming and wildcrafting and sustainable beekeeping.

Michael Pilarski brings with him:
* Decades of experience teaching and an extensive library on: permaculture restoration, farming, gardening, ethnobotany, horticulture, agroforestry, and plant sciences.
* A large collection of horticulture hand tools
* Local, regional and world-wide network for restoration, agroecology, etc.

Goals of the ERC:
* Grow a living model of community working collaboratively in the spirit of reciprocity with the Earth.
* Do restoration work on-site with a focus on water resilience and pollinator habitat.
* Grow food for the community and students.
* Outreach! Local and regional restoration work (paid and volunteer) and educational offerings.

Who can apply? The more boxes you can tick the better:
* Physically able to work/ skills and experience to offer
* Can contribute financially or able to help bring funding, tools and/or resources
* Experience with rural, off-grid/ community living.
* A loving, caring, sharing heart.

May 31 and June 1, 2025, we will have an in-person meet-up at Skalitude in the Methow Valley to talk about the community/camp and to do some hands-on work.
