Paul Stamets
Paul Stamets is an American mycologist and entrepreneur who sells various mushroom products through his company. He is an author and advocate of medicinal fungi and myco-remediation. He began his career in the forest as a logger. Stamets is largely self-taught in the field of mycology. Stamets plays a significant part in the 2019 documentary film Fantastic Fungi.
Paul believes that mushrooms can save our lives, restore our ecosystems and transform other worlds. He believes we could terraform other worlds in our galaxy by sowing a mix of fungal spores and other seeds to create an ecological footprint on a new planet. For instance, as bee populations have been in decline for the past decade, Stamets shows that mushrooms can be a step forward in curbing the mortality rate of nature’s most prolific pollinator, the Bee.
