The Small Water Cycle

Understanding the Small Water Cycle and how to work with it is one of the key concepts in our Global Earth Repair Solutions.

Michal Kravčík, a Slovak hydrologist and founder of the NGO Water Holistic, is primarily credited with popularizing and developing the concept of the small water cycle in his 2000 publication, New Water Paradigm. While related to earlier concepts of precipitation recycling, Kravčík defined the small water cycle as the local, land-based loop of evaporation, condensation, and precipitation. Michal Kravčík, along with colleagues, articulated how urban and agricultural degradation disrupts this cycle and argued for its restoration to stabilize climate.

The Convergence will feature Kravčík and some of his colleagues. This will primarily be facilitated by Zuzka Mulkerin and John Lambert. A closely related champion of these concepts is Millan Millan, whose work will be represented by Rob Lewis.

Pictured here is a graphic by Michal Kravčík and colleagues which demonstrates the potential impact of the small water cycle and other Earth repair solutions.
