Update on Indigenous participation at the Global Earth Repair Summit
There will be multiple presentations by our Indigenous participants both pre-scheduled and unconference format. Indigenous elders will lead Talking Circles at all of our concurrent session periods and will be involved in all of our opening and closing sessions.
Indigenous presenters as of October 2.
- Ilarion (Kuuyux) Merculieff, Alaskan Unangan traditional and environmental leader and President of the Global Center for Indigenous Leadership and Lifeways. He was indigenous coordinator for the 2019 Global Earth Repair Conference and for the 2022 Global Earth Repair Summit. Co-founder of the Wisdom Weavers of the World.
- Catherine Murupaenga-Ikenn. Māori, New Zealand (Aotearoa). Catherine is a founding member of the Pacific Indigenous Women’s Network.
- Mona Polacca, Hopi/Havasupai/Tewa Elder. Founding Member of the International Council of Indigenous Grandmothers.
- Pacha K’anchy, Yanakuna | Sierra Nevada del Cocuy, Great National Council of Indigenous Elders in Colombia.
- Mindahi Bastida Muñoz is the director of the Original Caretakers Initiative at the Center for Earth Ethics. Ilarion is our contact. He serves as the General Coordinator of the Otomi-Hñahñu Regional Council in Mexico, a caretaker of the philosophy and traditions of the Otomi people.
- Ed Sparks, Lakota. Talkeetna, Alaska.
- Datu Lanelio T. Sangcoan, Tribes and Natures Defenders, Philippines. Lanelio and his people are doing earth repair with native trees reforestation project in their denuded sacred mountains. He is contacting other tribal communities in Southern Philippines to join the summit.
- Jeannette Armstrong, Okanagan Nation, British Columbia, Canada. Presenting an Okanagan worldview of society.
- Margo Robbins, President, Cultural Fire Management Council, Yurok tribe, California.
- Paul Chiyokten Wagner. Saanich Nation, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. Founder: Protectors of the Salish Sea.
- Dan Nanamkin, Okanogan Nation, Standing Rock front-line warrior.
