Jan Spencer has lived in Eugene for 25 years. His interests are a convergence of care for the natural world, economics, permaculture, urban land use and positive human potential. His PDC is from Austin, Texas. Jan has been transforming his suburban property for 20 years. The place is a permaculture land mark in the Northwest, over 2000 people have visited. Jan has been on the board of his neighborhood association of over 10 years. He is very keen on using city programs as tools for putting permaculture ideas out to a wider audience. Jan has presented from coast to coast. He blogs for Mother Earth News, has a radio show – “Creating a Resilient Future” – on Eugene radio station KEPW. He has produced 4 educational posters about transforming homes, neighborhoods, economy and culture. Jan is available for making presentations in person or over the internet. Workshop 2: Title of presentation – Global Market Capitalism and How to Pay for Regime Change
Yes, we all know global market capitalism is not an ally for a green, resilient and peaceful world. This presentation explained several powerful yet seldom identified critiques of market capitalism. Attendees these these critiques to others, not so aware, why our economic system is not an ally for a green, resilient and peaceful world. Key words – external costs, economic mythologies, sector analysis. Closely related to the critique was how to pay for regime change from real life experience – how we spend, or do not spend our money. Avoiding external costs. The Double Benefit explained.
